We are a vibrant community of regional artists committed to bringing meaningful art to our communities. Through thoughtfully curated exhibitions, engaging workshops, and shared artistic experiences, we celebrate diverse voices and showcase the unique talent found right here in the Interlake. Our flagship show is the 16x20 Show & Sale held at the beginning of October each year. In this unique Show, artists offer 16"x20"x1.5" pieces for $300 and 16"x12"x1.5" pieces for $200. No matter who the artist is, collectors know before entering the Show what the size and price of the painting is.
Rooted in our community
We are deeply rooted in the Interlake – reflecting its landscapes, culture, and community spirit. Our collective creates invaluable opportunities for artists locally, keeping artistic talent visible and viable within communities in the RM of St. Andrews, RM of St. Clements, City of Selkirk and beyond, without requiring travel to larger urban centres. We prioritize collaboration over competition, fostering a supportive environment where artists strengthen individual practices and grow together. Read this Before You Apply
The Interlake Artist Collective is a volunteer-run, community-focused group that brings artists together to support one another, promote local art and create accessible, professionally organized art events.
Our signature 16x20 Art Show & Sale is unlike any other art show in Manitoba. The entire event takes place over just nine hours—one evening and one day—bringing together multiple artists, hundreds of original works and a concentrated promotional campaign designed to create excitement, energy and strong public attendance.
Being part of a collective means more than simply displaying your artwork. Our shows are a shared effort. Participating artists are expected to promote the event, share and support fellow artists’ work, read event communications, and assist with physical setup and takedown.
What IAC Provides
For a very low participation fee, IAC provides extensive organization and promotion, including social media campaigns, artist spotlights, paid advertising, posters and signage, community and tourism listings, media outreach, website promotion, sponsorship coordination and event marketing.
IAC also manages artist inventory and all centralized sales during the 16x20 Show. Following the event, each artist receives a detailed individual sales report and payment by e-transfer within three days.
IAC takes no commission from artist sales.
The Show Producer completes the majority of the planning, administration and promotional work before, during and after the event. Artists essentially arrive, hang their artwork, participate in the Show and receive payment for their sales afterward.
What We Ask in Return
Every participating artist is expected to:
- Actively promote the Show
- Share and promote fellow participating artists
- Read and respond to IAC communications
- Meet requested deadlines
- Assist with Show setup and takedown
- Approach the event as a member of a team
IAC cannot guarantee individual sales, but we work extensively to provide artists with promotion, exposure, professional organization, opportunities to reach new audiences and the benefits of being part of a strong artistic community.
The artist provides the art. IAC provides the platform. Together, we create the Show.
